<body><p>STORY: :: Archive</p><p>Licensed dealers in the U.S. may soon be able to ship firearms directly to people's homes...</p><p>and the shift could reap a windfall for U.S. President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., who is a shareholder and board member at&nbsp;online retailer GrabAGun.</p><p>:: Archive</p><p>The proposed rule change at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives would allow licensed dealers to ship firearms directly to in-state residents.</p><p>That would&nbsp;be after undergoing an online identity verification and background check, along with a seven-day waiting period after notifying local law enforcement.&nbsp;</p><p>Currently, online buyers must pick up firearms at physical stores and undergo in-person background checks unless they have a permit.</p><p>If finalized, the rule would be among the most consequential changes to U.S. gun policy in two decades.</p><p>Some gun shop owners, industry officials and gun control advocates argue it poses significant public safety and security risks.</p><p>The change could benefit Trump Jr., whose shares in GrabAGun are worth around $700,000 – down from more than $5 million last year.</p><p>A spokesperson for the president’s son said he had "zero involvement" in the new proposal.</p><p>ATF chief counsel Robert Leider said that Trump Jr had no influence on the proposed rule, while declining to say whether the White House had any role in the proposal.</p><p>The White House said it had no record or knowledge of any "interaction with the president's son on any of these topics."</p></body>
