Goldman shares were on pace to close at a new high, with shares on Tuesday morning rising 8.6% to $1,136.15 a share--an intraday high--following a record set of second quarter earnings that blew past Wall Street forecasts. The bank posted a record $7.42 billion in stock trading, topping Wall Street’s $5 billion estimate by nearly 50%, as well as $3.4 billion in investment banking fees and $4.59 billion in interest rate trading. Group profits for the three months ending in June were pegged at $20.98 a share, a staggering 92% increase from the same period last year, smashing Wall Street’s forecast of $14.38 a share forecast.
