A blowout earnings report from deep inside the AI server supply chain sent shockwaves through the chip sector Wednesday, lifting three of the biggest names in logic silicon and raising the stakes for what could be an even bigger catalyst on the horizon.

Shares in on-site power provider ERock soared nearly 23% on Wednesday after the company said that Anthropic had placed a big order. ERock, which sells natural-gas power systems to data centers and others that need on-site power or backup generation, said Anthropic was ordering 470 megawatts of equipment. ERock also said it had started construction on a 366-megawatt generation facility for El Paso Electric, which will support a Meta Platforms data-center campus.
Despite raising its full-year outlook, Cerebras Systems saw its stock plunge after hardware revenue fell 23% in Q2.
Coherent beat estimates for fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday and forecast first-quarter revenue and profit above analysts' expectations, betting on strong demand for its data center and communications products. Shares of the company, however, slipped 4% in extended trading. They have risen nearly 93% so far this year.

“Customers know that if they pause or slow down they run the risk of being way behind,” Chief Executive Chuck Robbins said.

The cloud-computing company’s stock jumped 19% and lifted other shares tied to the artificial-intelligence build-out.

AI stocks led the market Wednesday, fueled by Nebius, Lumentum, CoreWeave and Super Micro. Cisco and Coherent were earnings movers late.
