Microsoft Corp, Meta Platforms Inc, Oracle Corp, Amazon and Alphabet have committed about $1.09 trillion in future payments under leases that have not yet begun, mostly for data centres needed to power the artificial intelligence boom. Reaching the next milestone takes about a 31% climb. The current pace of profit growth would more than cover it.
Amazon just crossed a milestone that puts it in rare company, but the real question is whether the forces driving that surge can hold through year-end or whether a $200 billion spending gamble quietly undermines everything.
Meta just posted 28% revenue growth and investors sold the stock hard anyway, spooked by soaring infrastructure spend and a murky AI strategy. Before you join the panic, consider what Wall Street may be getting badly wrong about where Meta is actually headed.
