Reforming the Federal Reserve comes at a potentially steep cost to an already expensive stock market.

Tether is buying for the very reasons that central banks are—to diversify its holdings and hedge against inflation and significant dollar weakness, which Tether’s crypto stablecoin USDT is pegged to. In the first half, Tether bought more than 27 metric tons of gold—matching Kazakhstan.

The Federal Reserve now looks somewhat unlikely to raise interest rates at either of the next two meetings after a weak July retail sales report further assuaged concerns that the economy may be overheating. Last Friday's weak jobs report and the even weaker retail sales report "are bad news for workers and consumers, but potentially good news for the stock market, because it reduces the urgency at the Fed to raise rates to fight too-high inflation," wrote Chris Zaccarelli, chief investment officer at Northlight Asset Management.

Gemini Space Station (GEMI) fell as the crypto platform's earnings report faced crypto market headwinds and a wider-than-expected adjusted Ebitda loss. Reddit (RDDT) climbed on the news that the stock is set to be included in the S&P 500 index.

Wall Street flipped the script Friday with a wave of surprise upgrades and downgrades hitting names like Wayfair, Roku, and Fox Corporation, while cooler inflation data reshuffled bets across stocks, bonds, oil, and crypto all at once.

U.S. futures were flat lower after climbing in the previous session on soft inflation data.

Oil prices were holding steady after slipping in recent days. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index gained 0.3% to 68,533.85, while the Kospi in South Korea rose 1.3%, to 6,924.74.
Dow futures were up 0.09%, S&P 500 futures climbed 0.04% and Nasdaq-100 futures declined 0.08% at the time of writing.

But generally speaking, the Nasdaq's having a great day, up roughly three quarters of a percent, led by the chips."</p><p>Elsewhere in the market, shares of Netflix climbed more than 5% after billionaire investor Bill Ackman unveiled a new holding in the streaming company as part of Pershing Square's biggest portfolio overhaul in years.</p><p>And shares of Tapestry plunged more than 16% after the Coach owner forecast muted annual revenue growth.</p><p>Meanwhile, fresh data showed U.S. producer prices were unchanged in July, while the number of Americans filing claims for unemployment benefits increased moderately last week, pointing to a stable jobs market.</p><p>Traders are pricing in a more than 60% chance that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates unchanged at its meeting next month, according to CME's FedWatch tool.</p></body>
