eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter earnings and revenue, although the stock posted only modest gains in premarket trading on Thursday after the online marketplace issued mixed guidance for the current quarter.

Global e-commerce and auction site eBay reported better-than-expected second-quarter earnings and revenue, and raised its full-year forecast on Wednesday afternoon. For the second quarter ended June 30, eBay reported adjusted earnings of $1.60 a share, up 14%, on revenue of $3.13 billion, up $404 million or 15%. Gross merchandise volume of $22.4 billion rose 15%, marking the ninth straight quarter of GMV growth, and surpassed the $21.6 billion analysts expected.

EBay stock climbed late Wednesday after Q2 results exceeded expectations. Guidance for the September quarter was mixed.
